Tracker Installation Instructions for Version 4

Before installing ProblemTracker for the first time, please verify that the required software (web server, database drivers, etc.) has already been installed on your machine.

If you are installing ProblemTracker for the first time, please follow the instructions in one of the two columns below depending on whether you are installing from the Internet or from CD. Then continue with Step A.

If you are upgrading your ProblemTracker installation, please follow the instructions in the ProblemTracker Version 4.1.1 Information section of our web site.

You can be notified about new ProblemTracker releases or urgent product and support information by signing up on a ProblemTracker Mailing List.

Install from Internet Install from CD
  1. Click on the link below to download the ProblemTracker self-extracting .exe file.

    ProblemTracker Version 4.1.1 pbtrk411.exe  -  5 MB  

  2. Login as Administrator (or a user in the Administrators group) on a machine with a supported web server.
  3. Run the self-extracting .exe (double click on it from Windows Explorer).
  4. Click here to see if there are any patches associated with this release. 
  1. Check if there is a newer version.  If there is, you may want to download this version and follow the instructions on the left column; otherwise, continue below.
  2. Insert the CD.
  3. Login as Administrator (or a user in the Administrators group) on a machine with a supported web server.
  4. Click the Start button, point to Settings, click Control Panel. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon, and follow the instructions on your screen.
  5. Apply the patches in the patch directory on the CD, if any.  See if there is any new patch available on the Web.
  1. Double-click on the ProblemTracker Help icon in the program group folder that was created by the installation (or select Start > Programs > NetResults ProblemTracker > ProblemTracker Help Library). Then follow the instructions in the ProblemTracker Installation Guide to complete the ProblemTracker setup. If, for some reason, you are unable to browse to the ProblemTracker Help on your machine, you can browse a copy of the Installation Guide on our web site, just click here.

  2. Select Start > Programs > NetResults ProblemTracker > ProblemTracker Eval Version > Login Page and login using the user ID Admin and the password Admin to begin using the default workgroup.

    OR

    Select Start > Programs > NetResults ProblemTracker > Workgroup Management System>Login Page and login using the user ID ptadmin and the password ptadmin to begin using the Workgroup Management System
